Nine teams is a lousy number to have. For initial play you must either make two unequal pools of 4 and 5, or play a nine-team round-robin over two days. Actually, this latter alternative, commonly overlooked, is a pretty good format. It’s a great way to get lots of games for everyone, if each team is willing to make the committment, ahead of time, to finish the schedule. If you have time for five rounds each day, you can schedule each team for four games and one bye.

The batting team attempts to score runs by hitting a ball that is thrown by the pitcher with a bat swung by the batter, then running counter-clockwise around a series of four bases: first, second, third, and home plate. A run is scored when a player advances around the bases and returns to home plate.
This is the number of reserve players that were called up to the first team by Frank Rijkaard to complete the team against Espanyol. Four of Barça’s first team players missed the match due injury.
This involves an awful lot of games for some of the teams. It is possible that one or two teams will play five games the second day. Note, too, that one of the pools will have played four games on the first day. (In women’s play, the first round of the double elimination could be an abbreviated game to 11, (since no one gets eliminated after only one game). Otherwise, all of the games should be to 13 (except for the winner’s bracket final, which is to 15).
Evolving from older bat-and-ball games, an early form of baseball was being played in England by the mid-18th century. This game was brought by immigrants to North America, where the modern version developed. By the late 19th century, baseball was widely recognized as the national sport of the United States. Baseball is now popular in North America and parts of Central and South America, the Caribbean, and East Asia.
